Canon EPE/EX Engine: Light copies

I've got a couple of Canon LBP Mark IVs and HP LJ 4M plusses.
One of the Canon's has always given light copies such that the
contrast has to be maxed out. Even then its still light.
.
Reading through the archive it seems that this is an HT problem.
I've cleaned the spring-loaded power pin that engages with
the cart to no avail.
.
Its not the cart as I've used different ones, so before
pointing the finger at the HT power supply, anything else
I can do please?
.
Thanks in advance.
.
Mike.
Light copies are usually caused by the laser scanner optics being dirty. They can be caused by the HV power supply. The HV power supply is on the bottom and is easier to swap for troubleshooting.

Thanks. OK so swap the high tension/voltage power supply unit,
which can be found in the base of the printer, with one from
another printer to elminate it as the problem.
.
However the problem is more likely to be dirty optics.
.
Fine.
.
OK. What to do please to get to the optics.
.
Thank you in advance.

Try one thing at a time. If you start tearing up too much, you'll just cause more problems. Let us know if the high voltage fixes it.
