Apple LW 360 Power Saving Delay

I have recently acquired a LW360 which seems to work well except for one minor annoyance.

Using Apple's Printer Utility 2.2, while all else works, no matter what I set the Energy Saving Delay for (the choices are 15 or 30 min. or 1, 2, or 4 hours with a 30 min. default) the printer will not go into standby mode as it is supposed to.

This is curious because the "Power Savings Delay" icon and information prints out on the Start Up page (along with an accurate page count).

Any suggestions or illumination?

As best I can tell, the "power savings" involves not having the fan on high speed, like when it is printing. I used to leave my 360 on, the fan always spun, finally had to buy the "print fade" kit because my 360 laser mirror was full of dust! Power saving really does nothing at all!
