IBM Lexmark 4039 Paper Problem

When the paper comes out of my laser printer, it has some crinkled heat marks on one side. The cause appears to be some dust or toner that has stuck to the shiny silver roller that moves the paper to the output tray. This roller is protected by a heat shield. Is there a way to clean it, or does it have to be replaced, and if so, what would it cost. The roller is attached to a motor with gears on it.
