this unit wont print saying the brand new cartridge needs to be replaced. i have tried two new cartridges.

any hope
I have the same problem. Replaced the cartridge twice and problem persists. Have you had any luck in resolving this?

This is gonna hurt folks!There is a "drain" tube that runs from the ink cartride home or service station around and under the guts of the printer to the left rear and dumps ink there.This tube is too long and ink does not drain completely from it. After any period of non-use, the ink in the tube dries and the tube is clogged.They call this an engineering oversight.Disassemble the entire unit (this is a nightmare!) and use a syringe to inject alcohol into the tube until it is completely clear. You might want to inject a few shots of other alcohol into yourself while you're at it! Reassemble the printer and it should work. If it makes you feel better, a few years ago you could send it back to Canon and they would do this for you - but those days are long gone.Best of luck....
