HP Laserjet 6L problems

2 Things:
1. On the right hand side of all print jobs, there is a black smudge of toner going from top to bottom of the paper. At the bottom of the paper there are hair particles (perhaps brush hairs) hanging off of the paper. However, the left side of the print job is fine. But you can't read what's on the right side.

2. Printer spits out out the first paper fine, as in no crumpling of the paper, but smudges as per #1. But on the second print job and latter, the paper crumples as it is printing, with smudges as well.

Sounds to me like the mylar film shredded on your fixing assembly. There is a rubber pressure roller and a mylar roller above it. If the mylar shreds as it does if metal tools are used to clear paper jams, you'll get that symptom. We have replacement sleeves available for $35. It's cheaper than buying the whole assembly.
