Hp HP LaserJet 4

HP LJ Upper fuse roller

Moe, do you have this part - #RB1-2263-000CN?

It's for a LaserJet 4.

I finally found the problem with that toner leaking from that cartridge - a small piece of the damaged sealing tape was lodged under the wiper. Once I cleared that up all was fine, except for some print smearing. Decided to clean out the printer and discovered there was some toner build-up on the upper fuse roller. Flecked most of it off with my finger nail, but several stubborn spots remained. Not wanting to damaged the Teflon surface on the roller, I gave up. Now I'm thinking I should just replace that roller.

So, do you think that's a good idea? Any alternative for getting that toner off the roller without damaging it?

If not, do you have the part, and does it come with instructions?
not worth the trouble to replace the roller. complete fuser refurbs are short money. btw, that teflon is pretty durable, and i used to use an old credit card to scrape it off (don't see many lj 4's these days)

Thanks for the info. The credit card worked great. No doubt toner will adhere to those spots again. Will just have to keep flecking away, unless I replace that fuse roller.

This old printer has been a reliable workhorse for years, but isn't worth spending a lot of money on. Saw a fuse roller on eBay for $8.00, so, beings I've got more time than money, figured it might be worth a go.

Where would I go to find a refurb fuser unit for this printer, and about how much should it cost?

Thanks again for responding, and your suggestions.

Thanks to a 'How-to' video on YouTube, replacing the upper fuse roller was a piece of cake. Helped that I found a roller on eBay to get this old work-horse back to printing like a champ. Good expenditure of $6.
