Lexmark Lexmark Optra R

Lexmark opera r 4049

Printer has grinding noise when trying to print. No paper jams visible and new toner cartridge installed. I replaced pickup roller tire but still grinding. Anyone have an idea what to do?
If i remember right, there were two different versions of the gear train driving the paper pick mechanism. One of which was driven by the main motor, actuated by a clutch; the other one had a dedicated motor. There is a large black plastic gear, that i had to replace a few times since it was broken. But doing so requires removing the electronic boards, fuser etc etc before you reach the right frame, to which the gear is attached.

Since the Optra R was sold up to 1997, your machine is at least 17 years old. I would not invest any more work in this printer. And it is very uncertain if there are any spares still sold for this generation of printers.
