Epson Epson Stylus Photo 1400

epson 1400 not recognized

Hi. I cannot seem to find anyone near me that can repair my Epson photo 1400. Everything was working great until my printer won't recognize the cartridges and says each is out. I replaced the ink cartridge twice now and this time with brand new epson genuine cartridges. They still won't be recognized. I just want this fixed and the only place is an hour away. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this perhaps myself? I am located in Sonoma County, California in case you know of anyone around here. Thank you.
gwestcott...Best guess is that the CSIC (cartridge) chip in the carriage has failed. The parts are not too expensive but it is a tricky repair. Hope this helps.

Thank you. But all 6 cartridges are brand new. Are those the chips you are talking about? - gwestcott
gwestcott...The chips are on the board which is in the carriage assembly. The board (with the chips) probably needs to be replaced. If you remove the cartridges you will see the "fingers" protruding for each cartridge from the back of the carriage. This where the chips from the individual cartridges contact the carriage. Hope this helps.
