HP LaserJet 1100: paper stops at fuser

Some time ago paper began to stop occasionally as its edge just enters fuser. It is never jammed, just stops. If I feel the obstacle and help the printer to push a sheet by my hands, it can always push a sheet through fuser. Not every sheet stops. New unused sheets have more probability to be printed without my help.
The fuser has a thin tube made out of film that slides around the heater assembly. There is some grease to keep it from sticking. The grease probably aged, hardened to the point where the film is sticking. The fuser is a bit difficult to remove from that printer.
