Hp laserjet 2420dn

Hi all

I am new here, I found this site through a google search. I have a hp laserjet 2420dn. I have been getting these vertical black lines on all of my print jobs for a while now. They are about 1/4 of the way in from the left side of the page.

I admit to being a novice when it comes to printers. Is there an easy way to fix this? Does it need a cleaning? Should I call in an expert?

Thanks in advance for your help!!
Could be either the toner cartridge or the fuser. Best way to tell is with a half-stop test. Load paper into the Manual Feed tray in front and send a job. Watch the page and when the tail end just enters into the printer, quickly open the lid and remove the cartridge. If you see the lines on the page inside, then it's a bad toner cartridge. If not, then it's the fuser assembly. This site has both available and video instructions and parts for repairing the fuser assembly.

I was unable to fix this problem with the paper. It looks like it just keeps coping a certain spot of the print out and and looks like mirror image down the left side of the paper. I have cleaned as best as I could all areas I could reach and replaced the ink cartridge.
