HP PSC950 Alignment issue

Hi There,

I was wondering if anyone could offer some guidance in layman terms. My HP Psc950 keeps saying press enter to align cartridges. I know this is usually due to cartridges being empty but mine are both new and full. Does anyone know why it may keep asking me this? When it does print the alignment page, I see 4 green ticks, with two empty bits by the side of two of them and one yellow patterned line and one that I think is black...maybe blue. When I check my tri colour print page, it prints all colours so I dont know what to try next.

Any ideas?

The printer prints an alignment pattern and then scans it. If the printer sees a "fault" in the alignment test pattern then the printer will report "alignment failed". You need to replace the "offending" cartridge. It doesn't sound like black is printing on your alignment page, so I would guess that your black cartridge is faulty. At any rate, the fact that the alignment fails tells us that you have, at the very least, a faulty cartridge.
The alignment page should have instructions on how to complete alignment. Since you do not address that issue, my guess is that your black cartridge is at fault.
