Hp HP LaserJet 4

HP laserJet 4

First of all I have this printer for the past 17 years it works great and I would love to keep it. I was able to clear all the problems till now. Yesterday I got a new Message
# 14 No EP CART I check and made sure that the tone cartridge is
correctly seated and the top door is securely closed I pressed (continue) or (on line) as was printed in the user refrence guide but nothing happened can you help.

what is the EP CART

First line of action is to try another known good toner cartridge. If that fails clean the high voltage contacts and if still no joy you probably need to replace the high voltage ps.

EP cart is the toner cartridge. The contact is the u shaped metal wire on the left bottom of the cartridge. You need to clean it and the metal contact in the printer. The high voltage ps is a black box that sits above the paper cassette tray. It is real easy to change. First try the contacts and a new cartridge. If you need a HV power supply, come back here.

I was there last week. You shoulda said something. Won't be back until springtime. dmz is on the other side of the Hudson. Don't know of any shops in NYC. Who can afford the rent?
