Bizarre HP 5610 problem

Have never seen this before -- and can't find any info on the internet.

HP5610 prints light -- Fast draft quality -- for the first 28 pages of a specific document. Can't get it to actually print with "Normal" quality -- but only for these 28 pages. The rest of the document prints fine. Other docs print fine, also.

Any ideas ?? Thanks much.
