HP LJ 4 removing the fuser cover

I ordered a new lamp for the fuser and got the video. I tried to follow the instructions but the cover of the fuser is not popping off - I found three tabs on the top and one on the side. The cover seems to be sticking between the top tab and the side with the tab - did I miss something in the video? Thank you
Those are kind of tricky. There is an upper and lower tab. You have to pop the set loose before you go on to the next set of tabs. Keep gentle pressure outwards on it so the tabs don't pop back in place and the next set disengages from holding it in place. Keep in mind that the plastic is old and brittle from the heat and it's real easy to break the tabs off. Good news is that it's a cosmetic cover and totally unnecessary for fuser operation.

i have to disagree that it's solely cosmetic. without the cover you are exposing the AC connections, which in most countries are 220-250 volts AC!!! i won't leave the cover off eventhough the fuser unit is sort of hidden inside the machine. you'll never know if someone might put his hand inside the machine trying to remove a paper jam with the power still on.

the cover is available as a spare part by the way.

I have to disagree with the possibility of electrocution. If you open either door front or back to clear a paper jam, then you have cut the power to the fuser. Worst you can do is burn yourself on the heat roller. I know that replacement covers are available since we rebuild the fusers and have them in stock. - moe
