HPIIIP - DC controller replacement video

I ordered the HPIIIP DC controller repair kit. the video seems to deal with replacing the Density controller and the scanner assembly. Nothing about the DC controller. it looks like a mother board - like the one sitting under the formatter board assembly on top that everything is plugged into. Is that it? Do I follow the video up until that point and then unscrew it (?) and take off all the plugs to replace it?
After you get the formatter assembly off, unplug all the connectors on the dc controller and remove the 4 screws. Be careful when pulling the laser connector cable out as you can pull the end off.

finally replaced the board. it is printing the document but with a big black bar about 1 in down and 1 in wide across the page and then a lot of gray. I already bought your roller replacement kit and had that installed and this is your toner cartridge that I just got too. Now what?

Take the cartridge out and flip it over. Pull open the shutter covering the drum. Turn the gear away from your body using your right thumb. If there is any toner on the drum, this action should clean the drum. I can't see it, but from your description the drum wiper isn't cleaning the drum. It is a new wiper blade as that gets replaced in the rebuilding process as well as the drum. If the procedure I'm having you do does not clean the toner off the drum, then that would indicate the blade isn't working properly.

that didn't clean it so I took a paper towel and alcohol and got all the toner off. but, it still prints the big black bar as well as two smaller black bars. I just got the toner and the box is still on the kitchen table. should I send it back for replacement?

There is also a clackety sound as the paper feeds. Now the black bar is at the top of the page and there is a lighter gray stripey background on the whole page.

The drum is cleaned of any waste toner by the internal drum wiper blade. The waste toner is deposited in the internal waste toner bin. It doesn't do any good to clean it off since if the wiper blade isn't doing its job, it will just come back the next time you print. The sound could also be caused by the toner cartridge as well. I would say that it is probably defective and you are welcome to return it for replacement. Sorry about the problem.

Moe,
Wondering if you received my return toner and if you've sent the replacement yet?

We have the cartridge. Had some problems getting replacement parts since the cartridges are so old. Should be a few more days. Sorry for the delay. - moe
