New motor doesn't fix error 57 on LaserJet 4

I used a HP LasetJet 4 55/57 Service Error Repair Kit to replace the main motor with intructions in the video, without any difficulty.

Unfortunately, I still receive the error 57 message after I turn on the printer. ???

It has been a long time but I had a couple with this error and the issue was the fuser heat roller had become binded to the pressure roller and that stopped the motor from turning and you got that message. Remove the fuser and see if you can turn the gear by hand. If not that may be your issue. Also make sure the fan on the right side back top is running.

If that isn't it, then it's usually the DC controller. That's what powers the motor and gives the error.

I have a Laserjet 4. It developed a error 57 problem. Research led me to this site and a new motor. The new motor did not fix the problem. After reading in the forum I purchased a DC controller. It solved the error 57 problem, but now the printer only prints on left half of page. DO you have any suggestions? I have checked assembly several times and not found a problem. Test page is perfect on left side, fades to blank about middle of page. Toner cartridge was nearly new before the 57 problem.

The first thing I would look at is the Charge Transfer Roller. That's the roller just below the toner cartridge. I had one last week on a different model doing the same thing. Turned out to be a broken holder on the right side. That's the side that usually breaks. Push down on both ends of the roller and they should both spring back up. That pushes it against the cartridge drum so it can transfer the image to the paper that is in between.
