HP Laserjet 2100 Print Quality Problem
Help, I have replaced the fixing film with the kit I bought from this website. When we print we are still getting one place down the entire page where there is no ink/no printing. We can't print with this because words and letters are missing. Tried replacing the cartridge and got the exact same problem. What to do?
Well if you have a blank spot logic tells me that if not the toner cartridge, the issue will be the optics laser/scanner assembly. Either you have something blocking a section of the lens preventing printing in that area or the lens is dusted over in that section. Fuser will have nothing to do with it.
Ok, so what do I do? Is there some way to clean this part off if there is something blocking it? Or does something else need to be replaced? Please advise
You'll have to take the top off to access the scanner assy. Remove right side cover. 2 screws underneath toner lid. Remove back tray, 2 screws and 2 latches at bottom corners. That exposes the 2 back screws for the top. You'll need to disconnect the arm on the toner lid. Pinch together the 2 lock tabs and pull it out to the right. Lift the top off and you'll see the black laser assy. on top.
Ok, I have it all apart and see the black laser assy., now what do I do? Do I need to take that out or clean off something? Please let me know.
Yes. Remove the 4 screws that secure it to the frame and disconnect the connectors and remove and turn it over and in the front will be a slot and you will see the mirror lens. Clean it with a dry qtip.
Thanks so much. I located and cleaned the lens and it works like a charm again. No more line down the page where it won't print.
