Printing not clear - smudged

My HP Laserjet 2100 stills prints quickly and up to a couple of months ago, printed clear copy. However, lately it has been printing a shadow of the sheet starting about half-way down the copy. Not sure what is wrong, I just want to make my 'baby' fine so it's printing is once again clean and clear. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am not afraid of trying kits, but I have no idea what is wrong in the first place.
Probably the toner cartridge but do a half test to be sure. Put a sheet of paper on the manual fold down tray and press the big button for a self test. When the back edge of the paper enters the printer, quickly open the toner door to stop the printing. Now remove the toner and look at the image below. If the defect is present the toner cartridge is bad and needs to be replaced. If the defect is not present then the fuser has an issue and click on the kits on this site for a replacement teflon sleeve. Odds are it is the toner.
