Hp HP LaserJet 4100

Hp 4100 mfp Stuck on warm up/ initialize

The screen show the hp logo grow and shrink (like it normally does) and the three lights blink consecutively, but it does these two things forever.
It never comes to a ready state.

I've tried doing a cold reset, as well as removing the HD and powering on.

Any ideas?
If you have a Jet Direct card installed remove it. They can cause this.

Any new ideas, developments?

My HP9500mfp has this exact same symptom, intermittently:

- blank screen
- small hp logo (R) invent
- medium hp logo (R) invent
- large hp logo (R) invent

and repeat, about 2 seconds each step, forever.

Sometimes it takes several power on/off cycles for it to go away and get to the Ready state. Today I've done 10 so far and it's still stuck in this initializing state.

Rick King has the right idea, I fixed an HP 4550 printer stuck in "******" all-asterisks initialization mode, first by removing the JetDirect card, then by "baking" the JetDirect card. (Curing cold solder joints, not making this up, google "baking network cards".) But no luck, removing my 620 network card and the stuck-initializing symptom still happened.
