hp G85 ALL-IN-ONE
MY ABOVE AND BELOVED HP G85 IS SHOWING 'SCANNER FAILURE' AND I HAVE PERFORMED ALL 4 HINTS AS PROVIDED ON HP WEBSITE BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. CAN ANYONE OUT THERE HELP. I DON'T WANT TO DISCARD THIS 'OLD WAR HORSE' THAT HAS BEEN SO RELIABLE.
Gotta let it go! Getting parts would be hard, if possible at all.
You have got your monies worth out of it. Be kind, bury it.

THANKS. I WILL CONSIDER YOUR ADVICE. THE THINGS COMING OUT THESE DAYS ARE NOT TOO RELIABLE. CAN YOU RECOMMEND A VERY DEPENDALE BRAND?

From my personal experience, I've learned that one common problem with the G series printers is the failure of a tiny capacitor (c24) on the scanner assembly circuit board. I was able to repair a G55 and a G85 by scouring Craigslist's "free" section for similar printers that were being given away. I simply replaced the entire scanner assembly. The only problem is, I had to wait for 1 year for a donor machine, but now I have a an all-in-one that cost $799 new, and is still selling for $300 refurbished - that didn't cost me a penny.
