Epson Epson Stylus Photo R280

Epson R280

I have an Epson Sylus Photo R280 which I use almost exclusively to label CDs.
I just changed out the yellow and black cartridges.
The machine has accepted the yellow cartridge but is still saying that no new black cartridge has been inserted.

Any suggestion as to why and what I can do to fix this problem?

Best I can suggest is try a different black cartridge..

It's possible your cart has a bad chip so I'd get a replacement.

It's also possible that there's just a small problem with the chip contacts so try:
- cleaning the black cartridge chip
- checking there's no fluff, hair or dust in the printhead that's causing a short or poor contact
- check the chip is sited properly on the cartridge

Something in that lot should help...

I have an Epson R280. It usually works great. I haven't used it for a couple of weeks and today, when I started printing my wedding invites it started printing horrible colors. At first it printed everything in red tones. I ran the head cleaning thing and now it will only print green and blue tones. It has drained almost all the ink(which was new when I started this morning) and still isn't printing correctly. Any suggestions?????
