Ibm IBM Laser Printer 4019

IBM 4019 Printer

Hello,
Is this thread still active?
Yes my IBM4019 has worked every day until this morning since 1988.
Can I still get a Fuser Lamp & Thermal Fuse.
How do I remove the Fuser Unit.
Can anyone help?
Thank you.

I would try partsnow for the parts. Probably best off just replacing the whole fuser as Im sure the price is low and the other ones probably shot. I believe theres four screws holding it in on the four corners, some ac cables, and one or two other thermistor and sensor cables that also need to be removed. There is a black paper guide on the front that is snaped in place should just lift out with a little force. The only thing is when you reinstall there is some play allowed in the fuser position so make sure its pressed up against the drive gears otherwise it will not turn or will make a horrible noise. If I get a chance I'll pull out the service manual and double check on what I told you. Its been aleast 7 years since I've seen one of these.

You don't have to remove the fuser unit to check resistances across the fuse and the lamp. You can just remove the 2 screws holding the top cover on and you have enough access to check the resistance. You'll see the thermal fuse up on top of the unit. Looks like a little silver bullet.
