Epson Stylus Photo RX620 - error message

Have used this printer for several years without any problem. Have used 20 lb. copy paper for normal documents.

Daughter was trying to print homework this morning when printer jammed and would not feed the paper. Paper has just begun to feed. Not knowing any better, she pulled the paper out from the sheet feeder.

The printer now displays an error message "Printer error occurred. Please see documentation."

Printer documentation refers to the Epson website which indicates an "error" has occured in the printer parts. Its recommended solution: "Turn this product off, and then back on. If the error message still appears, contact your dealer."

Restarting the printer results in a squeeling sound from the printer and the same error message.

Any suggestion as to the parts I can check so that I can determine whether anything is broken? Any other sugggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
