Hp HP Color LaserJet 1500

hp 1500 printer

When i make a copy from an original copy i get a wide line down the centre of the copy about half an inch wide. This printer is about four years old and this problem started about two months ago. I removed the software and reinstalled it and still have the same problem. There is no obstruction that i can fine. I have no problem to print any thing else. All other printing is fine except for making a copy from an original. Hope for some info.

Usually, that would be dirt on the ADF glass, but since your PSC doesn't have an ADF, that would not be a possibility. As a guess, I'd say there was something on the scanner assembly mirrors blocking the light.

Every thing is clean on and under the glass. there is no obstruction - amberjad
The scanner assembly is the thingy with the light on it. It has mirrors that reflect the light. If there were something on or inside it, you would have the problem of a black stripe. That, you really couldn't tell without disassembling the top and looking inside the scanner assy.

I have replaced the Cyan 2 times beacause the message says to replace the Cyan (printer will not function without the cyan)
I put the old cartridge back in and it says cyan low but it still works. I am wondering if I have bad cyan cartridges? The expiration dates are a month apart. Help, wife needs printer!!

I took the old cartridge that said "LOW INK" and removed the part with the chip and placed it on the new cartridge which says "REPLACE CYAN CARTRIDGE". The printer now works except it always powers up with the "LOW INK" message.
I tried an older cyan cartridge from the junk drawer, again pulled the chip part off and placed it on the new cartridge. The message I got "CYAN INK EXPIRED".
So the printer works but I am afraid the expiration date will come back to haunt me its 4/23/2012.
I still have a new cartridge that won't work which I plan on sending back to HP for warrenty. - KEN_KACEL
You could be using remanufactured cartridges where they didn't replace the chip.
They're stuck on with sticky tape on the outside of the cartridge.

Printer uses toner, not ink. Therefore the message would really say "LOW TONER". Chips don't work by date, they count by print cycles.
