Epson Stylus Color 740I
Epson 740i: Black not printing
I have trouble changing cartridges. When the ink button is depressed for 3 secs, the printer goes through a long maint. procedure but won't cycle the cartridges over so they can be changed. Now the new black cartridge won't print. Ran diagnostics to no avail. Any help?

Try using the cleaning kit they sell here. I'm going to as I have wasted alot more that $12 on repairs that didn't take.
If the print head is clogged, which is what it sounds like, then it should work. Good luck.

Yup, buy the cleaning fluid.
Ordered some just b4 xmas (am in the UK) and it worked great.
I have never been able to print correctly in black on the lowest dpi before but this stuff soon sorted it out.
