Need help with Scanner Error 52 on HP 2840

I am currently on deployment and our shop has a Hp 2840 laser scanner that is getting a scanner error 52. I have changed out the scanner, dc controller, and image controller with known goods to no avail. I also noticed it was not picking up paper and wondered if this might be setting off the error code somehow. Does anyone know what might be going on with this printer, other than it is a piece of junk, lol. Thank you.
there's a confusion about which scanner the manual might be referring to.

i believe error 52 should be the laser scanner unit for the printer section of the multifunction machine.

did you replace the scanner assembly, as in the top part of the machine?

Yeah, I replaced the scanner unit on the top. - marinetech
Are you sure it isn't a scanner error 2? That would be the scanner lamp on top of the printer. If it is a 52 error, that would refer to the laser scanner assembly. 52 is a motor rotational error. Not sure which scanner you changed. If it is a scanner error 2, the printer will fail before it goes to ready, so it would have to be a laser scanner problem since that would only give the error when you send a print job and the paper would fail to pick up in that case.

The LCD is saying error 52. The printer goes all the way to ready. Then I go into the reports in the menu and try to print a demo page and it gives me the scanner error 52. it never even picks up any paper. I have also changed out the laser assembly, it didn't help, stil goes to error 52. - marinetech
