LWIIntx Accordion Jam

I was given an old LaserWriterII with ntx upgrade (i.e., case says LWII, startup page says LWIIntx) with only 20K on the counter. The thing accordion jams just ahead of the fuser - the problem seems to be that two gears (left-rear, one in the top, one in the body) are worn because they don't mesh properly when the top is shut. It appears that the latch is "congenitally" loose, allowing ~1/4" of play when closed, and it looks as if this caused the premature wearing of the gears. I haven't found a way to tighten the latch, so I have a few questions:

1. Is this likely to be the root of the problem?

2. If so, is there a way to tighten this latch so the top stays tight?

3. Is there an accordion jam kit for this model (that I presume includes replacement gears)? When I went to the repair kit page for LWII, I found kits for only Pickup Jam, Top Margin Shifted Down and 2 Blinking Lights.

TIA - mgh

We seem to accidentally have left that one out. I'll see that it gets added. In the meantime you can order the HP2/3 exit jam kit. It's the same engine as your printer. As for the play, you need to have a little bit or the top wouldn't open. The gears normally wear out after a period of years. Otherwise we wouldn't have a kit for it.
