Help - inverse printing on a LW Pro 630

I have an Apple LaserWriter Pro 630 that has suddenly started printing inverse images. Everything else appears to be fine on the printer - fuser, feed mechanism, lights, etc. From the print dialog box, I can force the printed page to print in inverse, which results in a "normal" print, but that's hardly a solution.
Is this easily fixable, or should I be looking for a new printer.
Please offer advice on this odd problem.

PS. I have replaced the toner cartridge, but the problem still exists.

In all the years and tens of thousands of printers I've worked on, I've never seen that. Try setting the communications switch on the back to 4 and turning the printer on so it does a start page. I'd be curious if this were inversely printed also. Do you have another computer to hook up to it. I seriously doubt the problem would be in the printer or I would have seen it before.

Wow, a first, I'm honored... I guess.

The printer has been off for at least a month. I switched the communications switch to 4 like you said and turned the printer on without connecting it to any computer.

I have an inverse start page! Beautifully printed, but inverse - the toner actually does a bleed off the bottom edge of the paper, and leaves about an 1/8 of an inch around the sides and top. It's funny, there's no smudges, streaks, etc., just a very clean inverted page.

I may hook it up now and run the LaserWriter utilities/set-up to see if there's a setting there... any other ideas? (the start page identifies the LaserWriter Pro as "Dave's Printer" (what it was named while I was using it), even though it's not hooked up to any computer.)

It would have to be a formatter board problem. They're about $200 on those printers. You could probably find a whole printer for that price on EBAY, hopefully with a good formatter board. There might be a way to reset it, but it's not in any books. You could try Apple tech support, but you'd probably have just as much success calling the LA zoo and asking to speak to Bonzo.
