Epson Epson Stylus Color 600

Epson 600

The printer will not print in black ink even with a new black ink cartridge installed.
Your nozzles are clogged on the print head. Lots of luck with it. Several webpages claim to have a solution that will disolve the dried ink, but I have never gotten any of the 600's to clear up. Depending on how extensive you want to go, you can take the head completely off and soak it in windex or 99.9 isopropyl alcohol. Other than that, try again with another Epson. My 800 has never had a problem, AS LONG AS YOU CLEAN THE NOZZLES TWICE A MONTH AND NEVER TURN IT OFF WITH A POWER STRIP!!!

We had to store this Epson 600 for a few months. I guess that during that storage time the nozzles clogged.

Thanks for the assitance.

I found a source for Epson cleaning fluids. One is a nozzle cleaner and one is a head soaker. They only sell them by the liter. I'm working on buying a liter of each and repackaging it in 1 ounce bottles which I'll make available on the site. Have to find a source for the bottles first and figure out an economical shipping method. Maybe some cushioned envelopes. It might be a while, we're extremely busy and I don't have a life anymore.

Have the same problem with the 800 except its the color
nozzles. Emailed Epson for a service manual but have
not heard from them yet. Am going to soak the heads. Will
let you know the outcome.

Got the same problem with my infrequently-used Stylus 600. If I can use colored text, I'm okay. But many times that's not an option. I've sent for the Epson printhead cleaning kit now being offered on the site. I'll return and let you know if it works (it would sure beat buying another printer).

Gentlemen,
I have a Epson Stylus Color 800. Here's the
question:
Where is the printheads actually located? On
the cartridge or in the printer. I would like
to clean them but being new to this, not sure
where they are.

Thanks
Butch

The printheads are part of the printer itself. They are located directly below the ink tanks.

I have the same problem as Tom. I have color but no black. Instead of soaking, can I physically remove the dried ink?

No, there are very fine nozzles that squirt the ink. The ink clogs the nozzles. No way to clear the clogs without soaking them or injecting cleaning fluid through them

Hey guys, I took a shot at taking the printhead off and it wasn't that difficult. I soaked it in windex for about an hour, plunging it several times(50). I then rinsed under hot water with alot of pressure and you wouldn't believe how much ink came out.And if you can think of any other way to force or drawl out some ink,do it,I won't go into detail but have some soap and a glass of water handy.-----It worked. It's not perfect but the quality gets better with each print. Be sure to remember the position of the white clips on the ends. They are notched. Mine were at 5. It took about an hour to assemble and disassemble. Good luck

I've got the same problem with a rarely used Workforce 600. I have read this thread and I am just not sure how to gain access to the heads. Does the carriage come out easily? Any help greatly appreciated.
