Microboards Technology PF-03 CD Printer

I have a Microboards PF-03 CD printer in for repair but an initial inspection shows a missing carriage encoder strip. Microboards only sell this item as part of a kit including the carriage and other bits for around £150.

I am told this is an HP Si500 engine but don't know what printer this may refer to, if any.

Does anyone know how I might obtain an encoder strip that will work with this printer.

Many thanks
David
I helped someone with a microboards printer a while back.

His had a DeskJet 900 engine.

I don't think he ever told me the exact model.

Here's a little more information.

According to Microboards, the PF1 & 2 are built on HP's 6122 engine. The PF3 is built on HP's SI500 engine.

The 6122 uses the same basic engine as the DeskJet 960 and 990 printers.

If I could see a picture of the ink cartridges for the PF-03 printer I might be able to tell you the HP equivalent, even the part number of the cartridges could be helpful.

Hi Stephen, thanks for your help on this. The ink cartridges are HP 56 & 57.

r u sure they're 56 & 57. documentation says HP Vivera ink and don't think 56 & 57 come in Vivera ink. PS - do compatibles work in the PF-3 or r they custom cartridges? - Anonymous

Then it probably uses the DeskJet 5550 engine but it could be a 5650, I think they each use the same encoder strip..

Are the latches that hold the cartridges in place hinged at the end that clips into the carriage, or one piece of plastic? (either part has a black insert)
