HP LaserJet 6P All Lights On

Hello everyone,

I just picked up a 6P and it was working great for about a week. All of a sudden, the printer powers up, and after a few seconds, **all** LEDs are steady on. I can't find an "all lights on" description in the manuals. I have double checked, and it really is all LEDs -- the top three LEDs, both paper tray LEDs, as well as the IR LED.

Holding both buttons down does not reveal a secondary LED pattern.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong?

Thanks,

There is always a secondary pattern.

If all the lights stay on then that is the secondary pattern.

Point taken.

Nevertheless, the patterns are not listed in the Service Manual. Does "all lights on" mean "something really bad has happened"?

Try an engine test http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/reference/guides/engine/vx
That picture is of the right side of the printer with the formatter board removed so you can access the engine test button. Push that button and if you get a lined test page, then we'll blame the formatter board that isn't installed.
