Hello,

I am trying to get this heavy duty printer to work but found it has a problem with the right margin being cut off.

Say I print a 20 page documents where all the pages has the same picture/text. The first page will come out with part of right portion cut off. The second page will still have the right portion cut off but not as severe as the first one. Then the third page will have the right portion cut off but not as severe as the second page. And so on, after about 5 or 6 pages the shifting will be much better and you don't have the images cut off. However the image is still noticeably shift to the right.

Other than that the printed text is ok. I would really love to get this printer fixed so I can use it because it's a work horse. Thanks in advance.
What is the page count?
we usually change out the timing roll assembly and clutch at around 500K for registration issues.

It has about 130000 pages

Define right portion.

If you are printing landscape, it's not the same as portrait, or if using legal it's not the same as letter.

It's best to tell us the paper size, and the position with respect to the paper edges.

Leading edge comes out first, trailing edge last, front edge and back edge, those should be obvious.

If the problem is that the image is shifted towards the trailing edge of the paper then the registration assembly would be the first item to change.

Hello, It is shift as shown in the pictures below. I am using all letter size papers (purchased from Staples). By the way is there any way the page count could have changed spontaneously? The guy I bought it from said the page count is over 130000 pages. But the print out I got just now shows only 25000. Would any disturbing the controller board reset the count? I did briefly unscrew the knob at the back and pulled out the controller board to take a look.

By the way, if I print a multipage book (say 300 pages). The first few comes out bad like this but the rest aren't as bad, ie. they are not chopped of at the right, but the printout comes very close to the edge. So what I do when I need to print out one page is to padded it with about 2 dummy pages in front. So I get 3 pages coming out and the third one is good, and I throw out the first two. Waste paper, I know...

I agree with the registration assembly being the cause. Messing with a board won't reset the count. You would do that in service mode. The page should also show the maintenance count. If it says 130,000 pages, then that would be the true count. You can set both of those in the service mode. Someone who knows what they're doing would set both to agree.

Is it hard to access and replace the registration assembly? I don't have to take apart half the printer to do it? or do I?

Haven't done one in a long time, but the registration assembly is right below the toner cartridge. I think you just unscrew it and pull it out. One problem is they've discontinued a lot of parts on that model. Might be difficult to find a replacement.
