HP 4 Error Code 57

I have an error code 57 on my HP 4. I'm inclined to get the fix-it kit for the 57 error- but I also saw that it may be a binding problem with gear train. Is there anything I should do before I replace the motor? Thanks...
The motor fixes it more than 90\% of the time. You can pull out the fuser from the back and pull out the toner cartridge. You can then rotate the large gear at the inside right of printer with your thumb and check for any binding. Check the fuser for binding by rotating the gears. Finally, check the toner cartridge drum for stiff resistance. If all that checks ok, then get the kit.
