Epson Epson Stylus Color 740

Epson 740 Color Printer

This printer is about 8 or so years old and has worked perfectly until the other day when suddenly the color printer stopped printing the yellow and magenta; it still printed the blue. In addition, the black cartridge showed empty. I replaced both with new cartridges and altho the black printed OK, the color still only printed the blue. I tried a second new color cartridge with the same results. I cleaned the heads innumerable times with the same results - only the blue printed. Any comments of what I can do to correct this problem? I have made approx. 25,000 copies, predominently black so it is far from being at the end of life - or is it? Is it worth repairing? I have changed cartridges in many a printer including this one over the years with no problems. Marty
It sounds like the printhead has become clogged. You should consider purchasing a cleaning kit from this website. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem. I have cleaned the heads many time with the solution they sell on this site, but only the cyan prints. (cleaning did get the cyan printing, as none of the colors printed before that). Is there a way to remove the cartrige holder and clean it from the bottom?

Do not remove the print head. It is completely unnecessary and you break the factory adjustments. Put a pool of the cleaning solution on the cap assembly. Then slide the carriage over it. This will soak the face of the print head and you don't break any adjustments.
