HP LaserJet 6P :: Printer Communication

I'm having some issues with a HP LaserJet 6P. It doesn't seem to be communicating with a computer that's directly linked via parallel port. So far, I've tried:
- Checking the toner/ink.
- Making sure the cords weren't bad.
- Switched out the cord with new ones.
- Uninstalled/Installed a new printer.
- Changed out the drivers.
- Tried the printer on another computer and it seems to work.
But, I'm wondering if there's anything I can do so that the printer can communicate with the original computer. I've tried my other office printer and it doesn't seem to communicate with the original computer either, but it works fine on my office computer. It can self-test print, but not do test prints from the original computer. Each time it does, the job would state that it's printing and the job then disappears without the printer ever printing anything or any of the mechanics within the printer turning. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Obviously, it is not a printer problem, or a cable problem or a toner problem. I suspect you aren't totally deleting the driver before reinstalling it. Try installing an HP III driver and using that.
