Hp HP DeskJet 882C

Deskjet 882c - no yellow

My HP Deskjet 882c will no longer print any yellow. I put in a new cartridge, and the problem persists. I tried it on both a windows 98 machine, and a Mac G4. Same result. I think the circuit for yellow must be out. Any help would be appreciated.
I remember someone else had this same problem and went through 3 cartridges before he got one to work. I think it's bad quality control on HP's part, not the fault of the printer. You might try calling them and complaining and see what they say. If they try and hit you up for $25, get irate. They'll probably send you a free cartridge to shut you up.

It was a couple months ago, so I don't remember where I encountered it. I do remember it was yellow the guy was having problems with. It doesn't rule out the printer, but...

HP seems to think it is driver or firmware. I have a hard time believing that that would have gone bad all of a sudden.

HP tell the truth? I've seen the no yellow thing posted several times on the ngs. I do remember the one where the guy went through 3 ink cartridges to find a good one. I haven't seen the particular problem come through our shop, but have seen it enough on the ngs to know that it must be a common problem. I really wouldn't have much faith in HP's diagnosis. They probably have some production problem with cartridges, don't want to admit it and don't want an expensive recall.

My HP 810C was printing fine - then last week I lost the yellow output as well. I thought it was the cartidge, but a new one proved that was not the case! Then I took the old cartridge and brought it into my work printer (same model number) and voila! Yellow! So I know its not the cartridge! Anyone know what's causing this?

It probably doesn't help any, but I have the same problem on a 660C. With new cartridges worth more that my printer I think its time to buy a Canon!

My third cartridge did work, by the way, and haven't had any problem for a few months now.

Lost yellow on a 810C HP printer. Bought a new cartridge, and the same thing happened. So, thinking about this, I tried to see if any ink would come out of the cartridge. I first tried rubbing the cartridge on a piece of paper, only saw red and blue. So, I had to find a way to force the yellow to come out. Thought about this for a minute. The solution I came up with was to suck on the cartride. First couple of times, it was just red and blue. Then after sucking on the cartridge, yes I sucked on it. I was able to get some yellow to come out. After this, it both cartridges printed just fine. Do have a stained tongue though. Oh well, shall wear off in a couple of days. Not sure of the medical complications from the ink, so if you try this, be careful.
