HP color laserjet 2840 squeaking

Everytime we receive a fax it squeaks.
That's pretty much as useful information to us as telling the car mechanic that every time you drive your car it squeaks. We're sitting thousands of miles away and can't hear where the squeak is coming from.

I've also heard loud squeaking from several 2840's. It happens when a fax is received and during calibration. The sound appears to be coming from the sides of the printer when the cartridges are rotated. It is a grinding high pitched squeak.

does it squeak when its printing normally ?, the most common cause of squeaking on this model and the 2500 series is a faulty imaging drum.

I also am having a super squeaky 2840... I just inserted a new drum and the squeak does seem to be louder than before. But let me be clear there was a squeak with the previous drum as well. I will re-evaluate when a new drum is inserted, again. But in the mean time I would appreciate any advise or suggestions on grease/lube whatever may quiet the sound.

Thanks you.

I have the same symtoms. Squeak got louder after new drum installed but still squeaked with old drum. - Anonymous
there's another place where it would squeaks, those little plastic rollers with belts going through them.

they're located underneath the carousel, after the black transfer roller. you probably have to remove all the toner cartridges and the waste toner cover to gain access to it.

grease the sides of those plastic roller where they fit into the holder.
