Canon Canon ImageClass D860

canon imageclass d860

I get an error at powerup: "Rec. Paper Jam Slide Platen Left" and a flahing alarm light on top of unit. There is no paper jam and I suspect a fuser problem. I haven't seen this model before..how do I disassemble it .. any tech data or error codes?
First remove toner cartridge and check under metal flap for paper jam.
second remove three exit covers and with a offset phillips #2 driver
remove fuser 3 screws 3 connectors.
fuser comes up and out carefully.

The fuser film may be torn.

Can I get more detail about which pieces to remove, or some pictures? - Anonymous
Why does everybody need pictures? Just take off all the plastic covers above, below and to each side of the fuser. Then pull the thin black plastic sheet back and tape it down to the printer so you can get at the connectors. You will need some kind of offset screwdriver to get the 3 fuser screws out. Do not even think about stripping one of them or you are seriously screwed (pun intended).
