HP 2840 and Postscript Drivers

I'm designing an "electronic" letterhead for a friend who's business uses Word on PCs. I'm from the Mac world so I must say that a few of my problems might be obvious to a PC guy.

The problem: The letterhead uses an imported eps graphic in the header & footer of the Word template. It prints perfect to his Xerox C2424 but very blurred to any of four HP 2840s.

The HP 2840 is a Postscript printer, and should print the file as fine as the Xerox.

What I don't understand is the drivers supplied for Windows - The manual states that the Postscript drive is NOT installed by default. You have to go back and choose it specifically and replace the default driver.

My Question: Will switching to the Postscript driver cause problem with other document that now print under the default driver.

It shouldn't.

The first thing to try is upgrading the printer firmware, the older firmware does some colors wrong when used with the PostScript driver.

The firmware can be found on: www.hp.com
