HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One Paper Jam Error

My HP Officejet 6310 All-in-one is about a year and a half old and has worked reasonably well. Just today I have started getting "paper jam" errors about nine times in ten when I send a document to print, and a visual inspection shows nothing in paper path, so I don't think it is a real paper jam. I have turned the power off and on again, with no result. Also, I have now started getting an occasional "carriage jam" message, but there is nothing blocking the carriage and it is parked to the right. There do appear to be droplets of ink on a black felt pad below where the cartidge parks.

Any help would be very much appreciated!
paper jam problems is probaly the paper sesor getting stuck and therfore reporting a jam.

carriage jam im not sure about.

but ink on felt pad is normal

Thanks for the info. Any ideas on what I can do to unstick the paper sensor? I'm reasonably handy. - Radio30
