Hp HP OfficeJet 5610

hp 5610 all-in-one fax receiving

I have this problem with one 5610 multi-functional hp : it prints a vertical black line on the left side of the paper about 1-1,5 cm from the margins . but the strange thing is that when i print from the pc or make a copy ...it prints OK ,. the problem is only when i Receive fax . i have to mention that i`ve set the fax page to A4.
Any help would be highly appreciated .
Thanks
Does the line appear regardless from whom you receive the fax? If it does not the problem is with the sending fax.

Having the same problem. Have you solved your problem yet? How old is your HP? Is this a new problem?
In my case I get a solid vertical black line on the left side when I copy and scan from the HP. People receiving faxes from me also get the same treatment. All is fine printing directly from the PC. I have only had the problem since I moved my machine.
Any help would be much appreciated.

i didnt have problem when i scan or copy or print ! i had black vertical line only when received fax , is either something from hp config or the fax that is sending . if u have pb when making a copy is most likely the scanner ;)

Jira77 Open the ADF (auto Document Feeder) you will see a thin glass panel that is the width of the paper. Usually whiteout or something else is on the scanner glass panel. Clean the scanner glass and everything should be fine. GL

I also thought this was the problem, but cleaning the scanner glass panel has not made any difference. It is a perfect solid thick black stripe 5cm wide about .5cm from paper edge.

Can you please specify When is doing the black stripe?? 1.only when receiving fax or 2. all the time (copy, print and fax ) ...because is a different thing .

Have not received any faxes, so cant tell if its a problem, but people I have sent faxes to get the black stripe problem and when I copy or scan a document from the HP I get the stripe. The only time it seems to be okay is when I print from the PC. When I use the ADF to copy, the stripe comes out on the right side - when copying from the scanner it comes out on the left side.
Thanks for your interest. - Anonymous
it looks life a small piece of something is blocking the bulb or the mirror making it to send black all the line ... my opinion..

I have the same problem when I copy only, not in printing from the computer. Flat bed or feeder.

My past office experience years ago would tell me that it is the drum but I don't think this has one does it????

You may have a speck of something on the scanner head mirror. The scanner glass will have to be removed to access it. Generally the mirror is in a slot parallel to the scanner lamp. Clean it with a cotton swab and Windex. Also clean the underside of the glass. Typically you will need a T10 Torx head driver to do the disassembly.
