HP 1100 noise

My HP 1100 prints fine but as it prints it makes a loud squealing noise. Could it be the toner cartidge, a gear drive, or some type of belt. It does not seem to be a grinding type of noise.

Thanks

Most likely source of the noise would be the toner cartridge. All toner cartridges have a wiper blade similar to the squeegee you use to clean windows. Ever hear what a dry squeegee sounds like on a window?

I had this same problem and it continued after switching to three different cartridges. I had to replace the main motor to get rid of this high pitched squeal. Replacing it was easy, just four screws to get the motor off the left side, once you get the covers off. It used to take me an hour to get these on and off. It does get alot easier after doing it a few times.

I have the same loud squealing noise. The printer is printing fine but sounds like a stabbed pig when printing. Do you have a part number for the motor? I need enough information to order the part and it would be nice if I can get a place to order it from as well.

I know it is not the toner cartridge since it is brand new (< 10 sheets printed). - sundog1966
