Help-Print Mechanism, HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One

Hi & thanks in advance for your help!

I have had an HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One for approx. 3 years and have never had any problems with it until now.

Recently someone else was using it and during a paper jam, pulled the jammed paper out of the front rather than opening the rear clean-out door. Since then, any time the feeder begins to pull in a piece of paper for any sort of printing (print, fax, copy), it immediately gets jammed. The User Guide, of course, warns that pulling paper from the front can damage the print mechanism.

Is this what has happened and is there a way for me to fix it? Given the price of this model, I doubt it's worth sending it in for repair.

Just found the reset (unplug/replug while holding * and 3) on another forum and that didn't work.

Also getting loud clicking noise as print cartridge slides back and forth! Is it the end of this machine? Aack.
