Epson 900 CIS - mysterious disappearing ink

I fitted a Continuous Ink System to my Epson 900 in the summer and it has worked fine. The printer gets intermittent use and late November I noticed the level in the black tank dropping on a daily basis even though the printer wasn't being used. This reached the stage where the black tank is empty and the others almost full.

I contacted the supplier and to their credit they sent me another black cartridge and bottle of ink. I have just come to change and refill and now notice that the yellow and one magenta bottle only have about 1cm ink left in them.

On removing the cartridges there's no sign of any ink leakage though the waste tank is flooded.

The printer is a couple of years old and has light home use.

Any suggestions as to the likely cause?

thanks

The ink bottles may be placed above the printhead rather than at the same level.(think-siphon)

Hi

The bottles are on the same table and level as the printer, in fact the print mechanics/head is probably 2-3cm above the table so this would mean the bottles are below which should be better to prevent siphoning?

Some of the air filters are contaminated with ink and I cannot understand how it could happen.

thanks
