Unknown Printer

We don't get any error messages. It's just that the quality has deteriorated recently: lots more smudging in graphics and large font sizes.

P.S. What is the downside in getting a laser printer that emulates postscript vs one with postscript resident?

That's based on the okidata 400 engine. Usually it can be fixed by replacing the wiper blade in the toner cartridge assembly. If you want to give it a go, email me for price and ordering info. We stock them. The newer postscript emulations are very good. Indistinguishable from the real thing.
The older ones were somewhat lacking. Don't even think about getting a non HP laser printer. They are cheaper, but you get what you pay for. They'll end up costing you more in the long run.
