Hp HP LaserJet 6L

bought this as a spare for when my old 111p dies,
but the wee amber (top)light stays on,if i hold it down it scrolls through sequence, but returns to the top, amber light, checked for any jamming, took out toner and replaced,
wont even print test page,
bloke i bought it from(mail order)insists it worked perfectly, but will refund my money but absolutely says it works perfectly before he posted it to me,clue might be that he was using NT,I USE W98???,,it was well wrapped, and i would rather get it going than to send back,no drivers with it,i just used the ones with windows
anybody any ideas
Check out our sensor page on the 6L in the troubleshooting section. Probably a stuck exit sensor under the fuser assembly.

It's probably just a dislodged sensor arm. It happens all the time when people get aggressive clearing paper jams. You just pop it back into place.
