Changing Ink cartridges in Epson Color 400

How do I change the ink cartridges in an Epson Stylus Color 400 inkjet printer when the low ink light on the front isn't on. I have a refilled cartidge which doesn't print any more, but the status indicator shows it as still having ink.

Just start a cleaning cycle and when it starts to make noise yank the plug out of the wall. The cartridge carrier will now move freely. Change the cartridge and plug it back in.

I'm thinking (after having done the above yesterday)
that you just have to have the power off, Lift the top,
grab the print head by the pin on the left side of it and the
whole thing out to get at it....

However, there may actually be ink IN the cartridge, and the problem is that you have a clogged head.

Nothing so violent. . .simply hold the "load paper" button down for a couple seconds until the carriage starts to move.
