Hp HP Color Copier 120

HP 4550 PAGE COUNTER

After many problems I have replaced my HP4550 formatter and, with the grateful help of this forum, everything is now back to normal. However my page count has suddenly jumped from 25440 to over 120,000, the magenta toner has reduced from about 50\% to zero and the NEW ITB is showing 50\%. Can I reset these figures to truly reflect what the situation really is. Secondly, will the 0\% magenta stop the machine printing in colour even though there is toner in the cartridge.
There is a service mode for resetting all that data. I don't have the procedure in front of me now. The ITB has a mechanical counter and it doesn't matter what the life percentage is showing, it won't shut off until the mechanical counter trips. As for the color cartridges, they're actually measured through the windows on the left side. You can extend their life by putting opaque tape over the windows. Gives you hundreds of extra pages, but you have to watch for fading at the end.

Hi- I am looking at a used HP 4550. Can I access the Total Page Count from the printer display? If so, what are the key strokes to get the count? thanks a million. Scott

Turn printer on and let it warm up. Press top button, MENU, (right side) until you get INFORMATION MENU. Then press right hand side of second button down (ITEM) until you get PRINT USAGE PAGE. Then press the bottom button (SELECT) and you should get a print out of all the informtion you need. You can also select PRINT SUPPLIES STATUS PAGE at the second state of the above procedure instead of Print Usage Page by pressing second button one more time. Hope this is helpful.
