HP 750C Plus Half Drawing

Hi I have a Hp 750C plus plotter, E/AO, on a network, I can print an A4 test page but if I try to plot a drawing any where close to A1 or A0, I only get Half or two thirds the drawing, I have tried from two different computers, happens with Autocad or Pdf's, drawings are whole in preview, but chopped off in plot, I have changed the carriage belt, and recalibrated the plotter all comes up ok, no error Numbers, I thought it was xp64 pro, but tried from xp pro same result, seems to point to the plotter,
Any ideas anyone,
Alan
Do you get any error messages or the plotter finishes printing but the drawing is not complete. The reason I ask is it is possible to have a memory issue and if you download the drivers from hp you have to go into printing preferences and then choose advanced and have the job controlled by the computer and not the printer which is the default.

Hi Thanks for the reply,
The plot does finish printing minus a third of the drawing, cuts off
ok and no error messages, has max memory, print mode is windows tcp/ip win print raw in preferences, also keeps defaulting back
A4 which I always check for, and reset before a plot,
just tried another plot of a Pdf, in preview mode page was 840X849
page set to iso AO preview showing 706 X 1000, for page required,
ok tried plot, spewed out about 2 feet of paper then started printing, final part of print was of the drawing so the first 2 feet just got missed all together, also still chopped a third off,

What driver are you using. If the one built into the os download the driver from hp.com as I have found the driver built into xp to not be reliable. You issue appears to be driver related, but to be sure see what the test pages you can print form the plotter look like.

Hi again sorry for the delay, same problem on both computers one runs XP64 bit Pro driver from HP, the other XP 32 bit Pro driver from Xp used Hp wizard install went ok, in the changing of the carriage belt the trailing cable has to be removed, I had to straighten out the end connections a bit to get it back into the socket, could this have a bearing, I don't think it would as I'm sure an error message would have popped up, but have not had one at all, the bit that gets me is printing from a pdf, which should be simple, autocad has so many options, Just tried to plot with it connected on LPT 1 not network, a little bit better get a unboxed drawing still missing a bit, or a three sided box, its like it will not print past A1 size, just measured it it will print 552mm from edge or 22-3/4 inch across roller, on 841mm wide paper, would seem this bit of data does not get sent or configured,
windows printer test page says ok on LPT 1
Congratulations page Print mode windows TCP/IP on network
prints ok, got me stumped - unknown

You still did not answer the question. Are you using the drivers built into windows or using downloaded drivers from hp?

You need to do sort of one more test. Download the driver for either os from hp and load. After loading go to printing preferences and then choose advanced and at the top will be a choice to have the job controlled by the computer or the printer with the default being the printer. Change to the computer and with it attached to lpt1 do your job again and see if it has the same issue.

Hi have been to printing preferences but do not see how you select
computer over printer ? do not seem to get that option, - unknown
You go to the printer icon and press the right mouse button and scroll down to properties. Now click on printing preferences and at the top will be the advanced tab. Click on it and the first item will be process document. If you do not have the option, then you are not using the downloaded driver from hp. Below is the link to the driver.

Hi I do have the downloaded driver as I am using xp64, but do not have that option, but have managed to get two plots to work from autocad, seeing as i didn't have that option went back to the printer menu on hp printer and scrolled through menu found in page setup option (software)so set that, as I thought maybe ISO A0 may not have been the default page setup but set smaller, came across the software setting and set that, have just plotted a Pdf drawing an it came out ok, scale not right but it may not have been sent in the right scale, but so far so good,

I have not used xp64 so I can not say whether that option is available on that os. On standard xp the option is there and has to be changed since files today need much more memory then they did when the driver was first developed.

XP64 is a pain for drivers, that is why I installed on another computer, and will be dumping xp64 over Easter break, Vista as far as I can tell will not support the hp 750c plus, it is shown in the driver page at hp, but it is on the vista cd I think, too much trouble to upgrade then find out it is a no go,
another matter, I have cleaned the roller as i have problem with paper jamming at first start up, the printer rolls out the paper then rolls it back, but it goes 1mm back to far and catches the plastic piece that sits on the roller but only on the left side, before plotting i have to lift the cover and roll it foreward so the paper is over the plastic,
is there anyway of adjusting this roll back, I have recalibrated a couple of times, but no go, there is a margin of play in the roller,
I have found after a page has been cut i can manually roll the paper on 1mm so it is over the plastic, I got the printer second hand so I do not know what has been changed or taken apart, I have changed the carriage belt, but I dont know if the plastic part has been removed and not put back in properly, is that bit adjustable, as after a paper cut it is over the plastic on the right of the printer but not the left, which means it could be out of alignment if that is possible,
big task to strip then to find out it is not adjustable, - Anonymous
