HP7210 Officejet Problem

Hi there

Wonder if anyone can help here - I am getting a constant message on my printer saying "Insert black into right stall" when there is definitely a cartridge in there. I have tried 3 different compatible cartridges but cannot get past this message. Can anyone suggest what might be wrong and what I can do to get it fixed? Has the connection strip between the cartridge and printer malfunctioned ? Incidentally, the colour ink works absolutely fine. Help appreciated - many thanks
Examine the plastic sheet with the contacts on it, if it's damaged there's your problem, if it's not clean it with a damp paper towel, (use water).

Thanks Stephen. Yes, the plastic sheet with the contacts is damaged - it looks like it as a small hole right where the traces are. I guess this will require the whole carriage replacement?
